COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are continuing to sort out what happened when a man crashed his car in Colorado Springs and then attacked a random woman and officers.

An officer noticed a vehicle tied to another report from earlier in the area of Austin Bluffs and Academy sometime after 6 Wednesday evening. When the officer started to follow the car, the driver crashed off the road. Police say the driver then started running from the car and attacked a random woman at a nearby gas station.

During the incident, the suspect punched and shattered a police vehicle's windshield. He also jumped up on top of another citizen's car and smashed her front windshield. Officers tasered the suspect and a civilian tackled the suspect. The civilian was reportedly a city employee.

The suspect was later identified as 23-year-old Damian Pietraszek.

The woman who was punched spoke with 11 News and said she's going to be OK. She had some swelling on her face, but she expects to be okay both physically and mentally.

"He was screaming and yelling and just punching the cops," Nishia Rue said. "Just running, something was definitely wrong, like drugs or something, he was just crazy."

There were no major injuries reported, at least one officer was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Pietraszek faces several charges including traffic, criminal charges and second-degree assault on a peace officer. His mugshot was released Thursday afternoon.
