COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police were called to a Colorado Springs Walmart parking lot Friday night on reports of a man in a car threatening to hurt himself.

The call came in after 9 p.m. at the 8th Street Walmart. Police said the suspect, Andy Anderson, was suicidal and armed with knives in the parking lot. When officers tried to negotiate with the Anderson, he started using the knives to cut up his vehicle.

Shortly after that, the suspect drove his car toward the officers. No one was hurt, but three police cruisers were damaged during the incident.

Officers were eventually able to arrest Anderson, and he was later transported to Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Anderson was charged with attempted assault in the first degree and was booked into El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
