Pueblo City Schools is working closely with the Pueblo Police Department as we investigate the parental kidnapping of a student at South Park Elementary this morning.

All schools have in place very tight and specific procedures regarding safety, including the release of students to approved contacts. In this particular instance, the parent did not follow the school procedures and in fact, circumvented the protocols established by the school.

The safety of all students is always our top priority. At this time, we are most concerned for the safety and wellbeing of the student and will continue to work closely with law enforcement to assist in any way possible.

We encourage anyone with additional information concerning the location of the student to contact the Pueblo Police Department by calling 911 immediately.
