Railroad ties catch fire in Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - Smoke could be seen for miles in Pueblo Wednesday night as railroad ties were on fire.

The smoke could be seen just before 6 p.m. at the Evraz Steel property on the south side of the city. Fire officials said they don't believe there was a danger to the public last time this article was updated at 6:04 p.m. The only concern was there were no water sources nearby.

The fire appeared to be dying out and even completely extinguished by about 7:30 p.m.

The Pueblo Fire Department is reporting crews will remain on scene to make certain there is no danger of rekindling. No structures were involved and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
