Police were in the process of executing a search warrant at Western Apartments in the 400 block of East North Avenue. The original search warrant was for a computer crime investigation. Trinidad police had information from the FBI about a nationwide child pornography ring. During the search, officers found a plastic storage bin with human remains. Police had to obtain a new search warrant for the remains.
Police don't believe the bones belong to a child. Early into the investigation they believe they belong to an adult male. Police do consider the discovery suspicious and have leads on who the person may have been.
A suspect, 40-year-old Cameron Johnson McCann, was arrested for internet crimes against children; police aren't sure if he will face additional charges for the remains found. About 40 boxes of evidence were collected from the scene.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was called to help with the investigation.
