A busy street in Colorado Springs was closed down during rush hour on Monday.
Just before 3:30 p.m. Dublin Boulevard was closed at Gilmore Grove after a natural gas line was struck. The intersection is on the northeast side of the city and is just east of N. Academy Boulevard.
A contractor reportedly hit the gas line while installing fiber optic cable. The road closure was expected to last a few hours because responding crews needed to bring out a backhoe to dig out the line.
As of 5 p.m. there was no estimated reopen time. No injuries were reported, but 12 homes were without gas.
