COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The driver of an SUV was killed after crossing the interstate and crashing into a Jeep, then a concrete barrier.

Police say the driver lost control late Sunday afternoon while traveling on I-25 past the MLK Bypass exit (139). The driver veered across all lanes of traffic, slamming into the southbound Jeep and the barrier, and was thrown from the vehicle at some point during the crash. The driver died at the scene and has not been identified.

The female passenger in the SUV was last listed as being in stable condition at a local hospital. No one in the Jeep was hurt.

The southbound side of the roadway was closed for exactly four hours, reopening just before 8:30 p.m.

The deceased was identified Wednesday as 51-year-old Brian Marten.
