Colorado trooper hit during blizzard on Wednesday

MONTEZUMA COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado State Patrol trooper was injured in a crash on Wednesday during a winter storm.

Colorado State Patrol is reporting the crash happened in Montezuma County along U.S. Highway 160 between Hesperus and Mancos. The highway is in the southwest part of the state.

The trooper was responding to "an incident," according to Trooper Josh Lewis, and was inside his vehicle and parked on the side of the road when he was rear-ended by a Toyota sedan. Both the trooper and the driver of the other car were taken to the hospital. The highway was then closed for multiple crashes.

The crash happened at about 3:34 p.m. The trooper has non-life threatening injuries and so does the person who reportedly hit him.
