2 Colorado Springs police officers injured while making an arrest
Two officers were taken to the hospital in Colorado Springs Monday night after an altercation just east of Penrose Hospital.
Officers were called to a home in the 2300 block of N. Prospect Street just east of Penrose hospital just before 6 p.m. There was a report of a man in violation of a protection order. The suspect, Buddy Cardenas, was not legally allowed to have any contact with his mother. When officers started to search the home they came in contact with Cardenas who reportedly started to fight with officers.
While trying to arrest Cardenas both officers were injured. The extent of those injuries were not publicly released. Both officers have been treated and released from the hospital since the fight.
Cardenas is now facing felony assault charges.
