Artist makes repairs to severely damaged downtown sculpture
Repairs were made to the "I Have Been Dreaming to be a Tree" sculpture following vandalism damage in Colorado Springs. On Friday, Byeong Doo Moon made final repairs to the stainless steel wired deer.
Moon is fixing the sculpture after traveling to Colorado Springs from South Korea.
On Sept. 17 the deer was vandalized so severely that one of the antlers had to be removed. The sculpture is located near the intersection of Cascade and Colorado avenues. The sculpture will return to its original location Friday afternoon.
Acquired in 2018 by the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs as a piece of public art owned by Colorado Springs, the deer sculpture was first featured in the 2017 Art on the Streets program.
