All clear at Springs VA outpatient clinic after report of possible threat

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Springs police said a miscommunication led to a large police presence at the PFC Floyd K. Lindstrom VA Clinic Friday morning.

Officers said they initially got a report of a possible active shooter inside the building near Fillmore and Centennial around 8:24 a.m.

By 8:31, police said they knew there was not an active threat.

Colorado Springs School District 11 said Coronado High School was on a brief lockdown because of the police activity in the area.

Police confirmed someone had knives on their beltline, which are not allowed inside the facility but legal in the state of Colorado. Officers said nothing was ever shown or threatened. It happened during a counseling session.

11 News Reporter Jenna Middaugh reports that people were waiting outside as several officers and police cars surrounded the building.

CSPD says no threats were actually made, no weapons were involved, and no charges will be filed. Police said this is being treated as a medical incident.
