WANTED: Suspect in Colorado AMBER Alert, victims found safe

UPDATE (9/1/17):

AMBER Alert victims Zahid Adams and Samantha Adams have been located and are safe according to the Pueblo Police Department. The suspect, Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

Venzor-Gonzalez was last seen at the RTD Light Rail station in Denver at Evans Avenue and S. Broadway. A recent picture of Venzor-Gonzalez at the light rail station can be found at the top of this article.

Pueblo police worked with the Adams County Sheriff's Office and discovered Samantha and her son were driven north to the Denver area early Friday afternoon. Denver law enforcement officials were notified and they were able to locate the three. Samantha and her son are safe with law enforcement personnel while Venzor-Gonzales was said to have fled on foot and is still at large.

The alert was issued Thursday after 2 p.m. Samantha and her son were reportedly taken at gunpoint Thursday at about 11:30 a.m. The suspect's car was found abandoned in Pueblo Thursday afternoon.



An AMBER Alert was issued in the Pueblo area Thursday afternoon. The alert was still active as of Friday morning.

Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a 1-year-old child named Zahid Adams, his mother Samantha Adams, and the man who allegedly took them, Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez. By late afternoon Thursday, the vehicle they were last seen in was located along Cypress Street abandoned.

Authorities were searching for the missing duo and the suspect the near 1741 Cypress Street, where the vehicle was found.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez, a Hispanic man, took his ex-girlfriend and her 1-year-old child at gunpoint at about 11:30 a.m. in the Adams County area.

Venzor-Gonzalez is described as 5 foot 6 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may have a shaved head and has tattoos on both legs. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt with lighter colored pants or shorts.

The woman he took with him is Samantha Adams, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Samantha has a ribbon tattoo on her wrist with a butterfly.

The 1-year-old child is Zahid Adams. Zahid has brown hair and brown eyes. Zahid was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and black shorts.

Venzor-Gonzalez is considered armed and dangerous. He has two warrants for his arrest -- a burglary warrant or $50,000 and a

failure to appear warrant for $1,000
