Remains of missing New Mexico girl at center of AMBER Alert found

RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. (KKTV) - A nationwide search for a missing girl out of New Mexico ended tragically on Wednesday.

"This was supposed to be a news conference for an update," Rio Arriba County Sheriff James Lujan said. "But it ummm... Renezmae has been located. Her remains have been located."

On Sunday, authorities in Rio Arriba County activated an AMBER Alert for 5-year-old Renezmae Calzada.

Calzada was last seen alive at 9:30 Sunday morning.

"Many details are still unknown and under investigation by the Rio Arriba County Sherriff’s Office," authorities wrote in a release.
