Man shoots at parked car more than 20 times, prompts lockouts at 2 Springs schools

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police say they have a person in custody after multiple gunshots were fired near Coleridge and Pikes Peak avenues Monday morning.

The incident prompted lockouts at two nearby schools, Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy and Roosevelt Edison Charter School. A Colorado Springs Police Department spokesperson said there was increased security at both campuses during the incident. Both lockouts have been lifted.

Colorado Springs Police Department spokesperson Lt. Howard Black tells 11 News the suspect fired more than 20 gunshots into an unoccupied parked car during what is believed to have been a domestic disturbance. Officers were told he then drove away from the area.

After getting information the suspect might be in an area near Carefree Circle and Powers Boulevard, officers located him and took him into custody.

The man is now facing felony menacing charges.
