LITTLETON, Colo. As many as 40 handguns were stolen from a gun shop in Littleton early Tuesday morning.

The suspects forced their way through the front doors and smashed glass cases containing dozens of firearms, sister station KCNC reports. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says the thieves stole between 30 and 40 guns.

The theft happened at Colorado Gun Broker, in a shopping strip on West Bowles Avenue.

The store's security system was down at the time of the robbery, so none of it was caught on camera. There are no suspect descriptions at this time.
