COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police say speed is likely to blame for a serious motorcycle crash in downtown Colorado Springs late Sunday morning.
The 23-year-old rider was heading southbound on South Nevada and reportedly tried to get around an SUV that was getting ready to make a right turn onto Costilla. Police say the rider then crashed into a parked pickup truck, and according to witnesses was thrown from his motorcycle.
The rider suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. His condition has not been released as of Monday morning. Police say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash shut down South Nevada between Costilla and Cimarron Street well into Sunday afternoon.
CSPD's Major Crash Team is investigating the crash.
