FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KKTV) - Three teens were arrested following a joyride-turned-chase in a stolen car overnight.
Fountain officers pulled the trio over at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday after seeing the vehicle in the area of Comanche Village Drive and Santa Fe Avenue without its headlights on. The car stopped and officers approached the vehicle.
The driver slammed on the gas and drove straight towards one of the officers, who had to jump out of the way to keep from being run over. Police hopped in their cruisers and chased the car north on Highway 85.
At one point, the vehicle hopped a center median, ending up with two flat tires. The teens shrugged it off and kept going towards the Widefield Community Center.
When a trooper near the community center used a maneuver to finally stop the car, the teens jumped out and ran. With help from El Paso County deputies and troopers, Fountain police eventually caught the kids and took them all into custody. During the arrest, a Fountain officer suffered "serious" injuries, but the Fountain Police Department did not elaborate further.
The teens were all between the ages of 14-15 years old. Police say the driver had three warrants for his arrest, one of the passengers had two, and a third person in the car was on probation.
The car was reportedly stolen from Colorado Springs.
