Authorities in Pueblo West say a drug investigation is underway after an explosion sparked a fire at a Pueblo West house on Tuesday.
The explosion was reported at about 1:50 p.m. in the 900 block of South Tierra Buena Drive Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, authorities say a butane hash oil lab caused the explosion.
A search warrant for the home was obtained. 11 News reporter Kasia Kerridge was allowed on the property Wednesday and saw lab equipment, multiple buckets of marijuana, several weapons and more from inside.
"Most of it is just the stuff they use for the lab. They have pots. They actually have the marijuana that they're extracting the oil from. You can see some of the kettle pots back here is what they do," said Captain Leroy Mora of PCSO.
One person was inside the home during the explosion. Authorities have not released his name, but say he will potentially be facing charges. He was injured and taken to the hospital.
"The houses are sporadic. There's not a whole lot of people in the area, so obviously they're probably looking for locations where they can go where they won't be noticed," said Mora.
