Adam Atchison is proud to join the morning team at KKTV 11 News and return home to southern Colorado. He and his wife were both raised along the Front Range and love being back near family.

Prior to KKTV, Adam spent three years as part of the morning team at KRQE in Albuquerque. His two boys were born in New Mexico.

Adam also spent over seven years as a morning anchor in Colorado Springs. He gained valuable experience covering news throughout the Pikes Peak region, including the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest wildfires that destroyed hundreds of homes.

As a reporter/anchor covering state politics at KTVB in Boise, Idaho, Adam was the lead reporter on numerous key developments in the Idaho legislature and changes in executive government, such as the appointment of then-Gov. Dirk Kempthorne to secretary of the Interior under the Bush administration.

Adam has received four Edward R. Murrow journalism awards from the Radio and Television News Directors Association. He also has an Emmy nomination from the northwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and multiple recognitions from the Idaho Press Club for his live reporting and television writing skills.

Adam is a musician at heart. When he's not reporting, he's actively involved in his church, playing the keys and piano. He also plays volleyball and loves working out and running.
