Adam Atchison is proud to be part of the team at KKTV 11 News at home in southern Colorado.
Adam has close ties to the Pikes Peak region. His immediate and extended family live here. He's also spent the majority of his 20-year career in journalism covering local news, including the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires in 2012 and 2013. Adam was a lead reporter on scene when the flames first broke out and spent countless hours on the desk, delivering important information on the devastation of hundreds of homes both years.
The emotion surrounding those impactful events has helped shape his viewpoint on how to cover some of the biggest stories in our community.
Prior to KKTV, Adam spent three years as part of the dynamic morning team at KRQE in Albuquerque, NM, covering news throughout the Land of Enchantment as well as the annual Balloon Fiesta.
Adam spent over seven years as a morning anchor at KOAA in Colorado Springs, CO.
He also worked in Boise, Idaho, at KTVB as a reporter/anchor covering state politics. Adam was the lead reporter on numerous key developments in the Idaho legislature and changes in executive government, such as the appointment of then-Governor Dirk Kempthorne to Secretary of the Interior under the Bush administration.
Adam is a musician at heart. When he's not reporting, he's actively involved in his church, playing the keys and piano. He also loves working out and running.
He and his wife have three kids.
