Brian started his career in 2016 at Live 5 News in Charleston, South Carolina as a Production Assistant. Brian then moved on to NBC Nebraska Scottsbluff as a Noon Anchor/Reporter in 2017. He produced and anchored the noon newscast and grabbed stories around the Nebraska and Wyoming areas. He went from launching the first-ever Hot Air Balloon Competition in a hot air balloon and helped as many businesses as he could when the COVID-19 pandemic started.
Brian made his way to Valley News Live in Fargo, North Dakota as a Noon Anchor/Reporter in 2020. He produced and anchored the noon newscast and grabbed stories around the North Dakota and Minnesota areas. He went water skiing in Perham, Minnesota while on-air and helped as many schools as he could during the COVID pandemic.
Brian has always wanted to live in Colorado so he is happy to be at KKTV 11 News. His parents both moved to Westminster, Colorado so he is happy they are closer to him. He is a big fan of Netflix, exploring and trying new restaurants. If you have any recommendations, be sure to let him know.

Colorado Springs Police first received reports of a shooting at the Summit Creek Apartments on Chelton Road around 4:30am. 11 News is receiving reports that the person shot was a teenager. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Colorado Springs Police tells 11 News the driver was having a medical episode, which caused them to crash into the garage of the home and a parked car. Police say they first got the call around 3:39pm in a neighborhood off of Vickie Lane.

Colorado Avalanche Information Center says two members of the group were injured and one was completely buried in the avalanche. Rescue teams say the skier that was killed was buried about four feet deep.

A snowmobiler has been found dead near La Manga Pass near Conejos County. The search for this missing person happened Saturday. This comes as two skiers were killed on Friday near Durango.

According to C-Dot, last year, there were 745 deadly crashes on Colorado roads. Of those, nearly 250 were caused by impaired driving. It has not been this high since 2002, when there were 276 people that lost their lives from impaired driving.

The only groups in the LGBTQ+ spectrum that cannot give blood without restrictions are gay and bisexual men. The eligibility requirement states lesbian and transgender people can give blood without restrictions. Gay and bisexual men can only give blood if they defer from sleeping with the same sex for at least 90 days, even though the blood is tested when donated.

The City is hosting the public forum at Wasson Academic Campus in their auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Many community members voiced their opinion on the project two weeks ago when we attended the meeting. More than 400 people attended.

It took almost a dozen firefighters from two fire departments almost two hours to put out this fire. It burned about a tenth of an acre on January 18th. Owner of Budget Build Pros Sam Blatherwick says the fire was too close to his business and there needs to be change with homeless camps.

Students attending the conference at Colorado College were taught how to address LGBTQ+ issues in school, how to fight for justice as a younger person and challenging media stereotypes. The Summit awarded students with $157,000 in scholarships and educational gifts. 22 laptops were given out to these students for free.

As you travel along East Las Vegas Street, between Janitell Road and the MLK Bypass, it is full of homeless camps. Anyone living there had to leave or face the possibility of getting arrested by deputies this morning. The area will be monitored at least once a week to make sure homeless camps don’t come back.

Firefighters responded to this fire on 9th Street around 2:30am. As they arrived, they put out the fire at the unoccupied house. Firefighters believe a homeless fire out of control was the cause. This property had a fire last weekend resulting in a shed burning down.

Kai Miles Thorne is the son of Amanda Mahler and Miles Thorne of Colorado Springs. Kai weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces and measured 20 inches. He joins a big sister, 13-year-old Millie. Kai Miles Thorne was born around 12:29am.

As fire crews arrived on White Mountain Drive, they saw smoke filling up the entire home. Firefighters say when they went inside, the kitchen and stove was on fire. Luckily, they only had to use a water can instead of a water hose to put out this fire pretty quickly. The young boy calling 911 was crucial.

The Fishers Canyon Trail System will be on Wellfleet Street. It is expected to open in 2024. Once completed, this trail will connect between Broadmoor Bluffs and North Cheyenne Canyon Park for the Chamberlain trail. Right now, no one can go on the trail under construction is completed. There are too many downed trees, steep hills and other hazards making the trail dangerous.

The company ‘Prepared’ is offering a program, allowing dispatchers to see the emergency through a caller’s cell phone. Once you call 911, the dispatcher gives you the option to send a link as a text to your cell phone. Once you click the link, the caller can provide the dispatcher with live video, photos and your location.

A 43 year old man from Colorado Springs was driving in the wrong direction on I-25 around 12:48am. He died in this crash. A 30 year old man and 30 year old woman were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Names for those involved have not yet been released.
