Amish boy killed in farming accident while operating horse-drawn equipment, officials say

TOWN OF DEKALB, N.Y. (WWNY/Gray News) - A 12-year-old Amish boy was killed in a farming accident in New York state, according to authorities.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a farm on Risley Road in the town of DeKalb Wednesday.

Sheriff Patrick Engle said the boy was using a horse-drawn piece of equipment to disc a field when the accident took place.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are investigating the incident, and no other details were released.
