Health officials discover 3rd location of possible exposure in Pueblo measles case
PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - Another Pueblo location where people may have been exposed to the measles virus has been discovered, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
The new location is Walmart at 4080 W. Northern Ave. This particularly affects those who were in or near the pharmacy between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on March 22.
Health officials also added a new time for the Southern Colorado Clinic on South Burlington Drive. Those who were at this location between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on March 22 are encouraged to monitor potential symptoms.
Health officials confirmed on Monday that an unvaccinated adult tested positive for measles in Pueblo after visiting an area of Mexico that was experiencing an outbreak.
An email released jointly by the CDPHE and Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment said there are concerns that others in Pueblo may have been exposed.
According to health officials, people exposed to measles typically develop symptoms 7 to 21 days after exposure.
These symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a characteristic rash that usually starts several days later on the face and spreads.
Anyone who was at one of these locations during the exposure window and develops symptoms is encouraged to call their health provider, an urgent care center or and emergency department.
