FEMA recognizes Manitou Springs for its Integrated Planning Efforts

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - FEMA has recognized Manitou Springs for its approach towards hazard mitigation, resiliency, and preparedness.

The city was featured in a case study that highlighted their Community Master plan and Hazard Mitigation Plan. Christine Lowenberg, the City of Manitou Springs Planning Director, and John Graham, the Mayor of Manitou Springs, are thrilled at this recognition. “This is a major accomplishment for a community our size to be highlighted by the federal government for its strength in strategic planning and commitment,” said Lowenberg.

John Graham, Mayor of Manitou Springs also stated, “preserving the safety of our community is our utmost goal, and it is great to be recognized for going above and beyond in our hazard and mitigation processes.”
