Major power outage impacts northeast Colorado Springs Wednesday evening
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - For the second night in a row, Colorado Springs Utilities is dealing with a major power outage.
Wednesday at about 5:30 p.m. a large area in northeast Colorado Springs was hit with an outage. The cause of the power outage wasn’t available, but Tuesday night a portion of southern Colorado Springs had a power outage because of a raccoon.
The neighborhoods impacted stretched from Austin Bluffs Parkway and Templeton Road to an area near N. Powers Boulevard and Briargate Parkway. The outage also impacted people living north and south of woodmen Road from Austin Bluffs Parkway to Marksheffel Road. Stop lights in intersections that are impacted by the outage are to be treated like 4-way stops.
The estimated restoration time for all customers is before 10 p.m., according to Colorado Springs Utilities. The outage impacted about 10,000 customers. Power was restored for about 5,600 customers by 6:35 p.m.
Power for everyone was restored by about 9:30 p.m.
