(KKTV) - Law enforcement agencies across the state are gearing up for the Summer Blitz DUI Enforcement, aiming to make sure impaired drivers are off the roads.
Starting June 11th, the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol, and local law enforcement agencies will unite for increased summer enforcement to prevent impaired-driving fatalities.
Chief Matthew C. Packard with CSP wants to remind drivers why it’s important to drive safely this summer.
During the recent Memorial Day DUI enforcement, 209 impaired drivers were arrested. That’s down from last year’s numbers during the same period. Colorado Springs Police Department led local agencies with 24 arrests, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reported the third highest number with 16 arrests.
CDOT’s Office of Transportation Safety Director, Darrell Lingk, says that, which makes DUI enforcement an important factor in keeping Colorado roads safe.
