Authorities provide update on mom suspected of killing her 7-year-old boy; arrested in Colorado

DENVER (KKTV) - A woman has been arrested in Colorado on suspicion of killing her own child.

Authorities in Denver shared that on the morning of June 8, the suspect 35-year-old Samantha Rodriguez, was taken into custody in Denver by the Denver Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force led by the FBI. She will be booked in a Denver jail on one count of murder. Authorities say they will extradite her to Las Vegas.

Authorities in Las Vegas shared the details on Monday that Rodriguez was last seen in Denver.

Liam Husted, 7, was found dead near the Mountain Springs Trailhead near Las Vegas on May 28. Originally, authorities turned to the public for help with identifying the child. On Monday, the revealed his identity and also announced his mom is suspected of murdering him.

According to 11 News partner KOLO, Rodriguez may have stayed in Grand Junction on May 29 before traveling to Denver on May 31.
