COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado College freshman Hunter McKown scored a goal and added two assists in a 4-3 victory over Denver Friday at Broadmoor World Arena.

The Tigers, with the win, take the opening game in the annual Battle for the Gold Pan over the Pioneers. Colorado College (3-4-2) led the game early courtesy of sophomore Josiah Slavin’s goal from the circle at 13:21 in the 1st. The Tigers re-took the lead in the second period, thanks to McKown’s deke at 15:40 in the second.

The victory is also CC’s first of the year at the World Arena, which is currently closed to fans. The Pioneers (who currently hold the Gold Pan) and Tigers will meet three more times this season. The series moves to Magness Arena in Denver Jan. 2 and Jan. 8, before returning to Broadmoor Jan. 9.
