PUEBLO, Colo. (D-60 release) -Beginning Friday, Nov. 20, and resuming after the Thanksgiving holiday on Dec. 1 through Dec. 18, Pueblo School District 60 D60 Foodworks will offer drive-through or walk-up meal distribution at five sites.
The meals, available for D60 students between the ages of 1 and 18, will be distributed in the rear parking lot, or front bus lane, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday, at the following schools:
· East High School, 9 MacNeil Road
· Centennial High School, 2525 Mountview Drive
· Central High School, 216 East Orman Avenue
· South High School, 1801 Hollywood Drive.
· Risley International Academy of Innovation, 625 Monument Avenue.
On Tuesday, children will receive 6 meals (3 breakfasts and 3 lunches) and 8 meals (4 breakfasts and 4 lunches) on Friday. White milk will be distributed in half-gallon portions and while available, additional fruits and vegetables will be offered in bulk format to elementary-aged children.
On Dec. 18, a double meal distribution will provide for Christmas break.
All meals will exceed the USDA nutritional requirements, with the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program funding the meal distribution.
Children do not have to be present to receive meals.
Those who drive to a distribution site are asked to remain in their vehicle, as the meals will be passed through the window, based on the number of recipient children. Meals cannot be consumed on site.
The district encourages families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the distribution site once the meals are received. Masks should be worn when in public, with the frequent washing of hands recommended.
When sneezing or coughing, do so into a tissue, and if you are feeling sick, remain at home.
