Deadly shooting at a Colorado Springs motel under investigation; arrest made this week in the case

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A deadly shooting at a Colorado Springs motel is under investigation.

On Tuesday, Colorado Springs Police publicly announced the arrest of 29-year-old Ronald Amon Williams Jr. on suspicion of first-degree murder. The victim in the case was identified as 27-year-old Rebecca Smith of Colorado Springs. Williams was already in the El Paso County Jail on an unrelated warrant when his new warrant was served on Monday.

Police were called to the Rodeway Inn near Murray and Platte just after 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 18 on reports of at least one person shot.

When authorities arrived at the scene they found Smith’s body.

“Anyone with information or who is a witness to this investigation is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000,” Lt. James Sokolik with the Colorado Springs Police Department wrote in a release. “Or if you wish to remain anonymous, you may call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 719-634-STOP (7867).”
