COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A home is still standing thanks to the quick response of neighbors.
The fire broke out around 10 Tuesday night. According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, people who live near the house across from Prospect Lake in Memorial Park smelled smoke and called 911.
“They’re the heroes of the day calling for their neighbors,” said CSFD Lt. Fred Varnell.
When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from the back of the home, including part of the garage.
Firefighters said the people who live there weren’t home.
“We do have some smoke in the inside, but no fire inside the house at all, so a bad situation is coming out as good as it can get,” Varnell said.
CSFD is still investigating the cause of the fire.
