School is back in session and already doctors are seeing the spread of some common illnesses.

On the east-side of Colorado Springs, Dr. Brad Tewes says since kids have been back in class, he's seen a rise in strep throat cases... in kids and adults.

Symptoms of strep include red and white patches in your throat, along with tender glands and difficulty swallowing. Fever and body aches are also pretty common.

Along with the increase in strep, Dr. Tewes is also seeing more cases of pink eye... in kids and adults as well.

Symptoms of pink eye include a puffy eye with colored discharge. It's often irritating, but not necessarily painful.

Both strep throat and pink eye are highly contagious. Both usually resolve pretty quickly with antibiotics.
