SOUTHWEST COLORADO SPRINGS - Viral Cough
Dr. Bridget Tewes with Colorado Springs Health Partners says, she's been seeing a lot of really bad viral coughs.
They are somewhat productive.
In some cases, patients are also coming down with a fever.
And this cough isn't going away quickly.
Dr. Tewes says, for most people, it's lasting 1 to 2 weeks.
Over-the-counter drugs can help ease the discomfort.
HEALTH TIP - Preventing Insect Bites
Dr. Alan Garscadden with CSHP says, with so many outdoor summer activities, chances are you'll have some kind of interaction with bugs.
- Make sure to use an insect repellent containing DEET, but follow the directions carefully. Using more won't add any extra protection.
- Make sure children avoid playing in places spiders like to hide.
- And if shoes or boots are stored in a garage, shake them before putting them on.
- Doctors also recommend not wearing perfumes or brightly colored clothing with flowery prints when you're outdoors. You will attract the bugs!
