EAST COLORADO SPRINGS - Flu-Like Syndrome

Dr. Brad Tewes with Colorado Springs Health Partners says, there's a flu-like syndrome making the rounds.

You get a fever, chills, muscle and joint aches, severe fatigue and often mild to moderate upper respiratory symptoms.

It sounds like influenza, but patients are coming up with a negative flu test.

The illness seems to last about 7 to 10 days with a prolonged recovery

There's no specific treatment, just supportive care.

You'll want to visit the doctor to see whether it's flu or not.

NORTH COLORADO SPRINGS - Viral Upper Respiratory/Gastrointestinal Illness

Dr. Thomas Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Group reports a lot of a viral upper respiratory/gastrointestinal illness.

It usually starts with a runny nose, congestion, headache and fever.

After about 24 to 48 hours, it progresses to nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Over the counter medications can help reduce the fever and nausea until the illness passes.
