FOUNTAIN/SECURITY - Respiratory Illnesses
Nurse Practitioner Virginia Quiroz, with Colorado Springs Health Partners says she's been seeing more respiratory problems in patients.
Symptoms like cough, sore throat, plugged ears, fever and stuffy or runny nose.
Over-the-counter cold medicine and Tylenol or Advil can help.
Also, really push the fluids, including chicken soup!
Lots of rest is also part of the cure.
If symptoms are uncontrollable, see your health care provider.
BRIARGATE - Bronchiolitis
Dr. Michael Halenkamp with CSHP reports more Bronchiolitis in children, usually from RSV.
Bronchiolitis most often affects infants and young children, because their small airways can become blocked more easily.
Symptoms include stuffiness, runny nose, mild cough and fever.
Although it's often a mild illness, some infants are at risk for a more severe disease that requires hospitalization
EAST COLORADO SPRINGS - Strep Throat
Dr. Bridget Tewes with CSHP says, along with Bronchiolitis, she's also seeing a fair amount of Strep Throat.
You'll notice red and white patches in your throat, along with tender glands and difficulty swallowing.
Fever and body aches are also common.
Patients will likely be given an antibiotic to fight off further complications.
Remember, it's important to see your doctor if you think you have strep so you can be tested to confirm the illness and get the proper treatment.
