Symptoms include red and white patches in the throat, difficulty swallowing and tender or swollen glands.
You'll also likely have a headache, fever and nausea.
Some people, usually children, will also develop a rash.
A Rapid Strep Test at the doctor's office will confirm the illness.
In most cases, doctors prescribe about 10 days of antibiotic medication.
Bed rest and fluids are also part of the healing process.
SOUTHWEST COLORADO SPRINGS - Bronchiolitis
Dr. Steven Reich with Colorado Springs Health Partners says he is seeing lots of coughing, mainly Bronchiolitis.
It's basically the common cold with stuffiness, runny nose, mild cough and mild fever.
It can last a few weeks.
Because it's viral, all you can do is treat the symptoms with over-the-counter medications.
Call your doctor if symptoms become more severe.
BRIARGATE - Influenza A
Dr. Joyce Michael with Mountain View Medical Group says the flu has arrived.
It's influenza-A, which is the most common and also the scariest of the three, causing the most serious epidemics in history.
Symptoms include, high fever, shaking chills, chest pain, cough and possible vomiting.
Usually, you'll need nothing more than bed rest and plenty of fluids to treat the flu.
But in some cases, your doctor may prescribe an anti-viral medication.
Remember, influenza is very contagious, and good hand-washing is always a good way to fight off illness.
Doctors also encourage you to still get a flu shot, if you haven't already.
They predict this flu season is only going to get worse.
