You can expect more cloud cover and cooler temperatures today. By later this afternoon, rain showers will develop across the Pikes Peak Region and slowly drift southward. These rain showers will quickly change to snow at higher elevations, and accumulations will be likely. At lower elevations, snow accumulation does not appear to be a big deal. With Memorial Day weekend fast approaching, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the northern Colorado mountains.
Forecasters said Monday snow will be heavy at times, from the foothills in Boulder County to the mountains.
Snow levels overnight range from one for four inches of snow, with heavier amounts near the Wyoming border.
In Wyoming, up to 7 inches of snow is possible in Centennial and Albany.
In the meantime, some roads closed for the winter are set to open in time for the holiday weekend. Independence Pass is scheduled to open Thursday and Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park is expected to be cleared by Friday.
