Earlier tonight several viewers sent us photos and video of a tornado that struck near La Junta in the town of Cheraw.
Around 5:30 this evening, a tornado touched down near Cheraw.
The tornado lifted after being on the ground for less than 5 minutes, with no confirmed damage.
The same severe storms produced strong straight-line wind in La Junta, that knocked down trees, powerlines, and damaged a gas station along HWY 50 and Main Street.
While some localized flash flooding occurred while the storm was impacting the area, widespread flooding was not reported.
Storms have moved east, and weather is improving. Watch out for more storms Tuesday afternoon, Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe.
