Strong winds will return to Southern Colorado on Sunday thanks to an approaching storm system. Sustained winds between 30-45 mph can be expected throughout the day, with gusts up to 50-60 mph possible, especially across the Southeast Plains.
These winds can possibly lead to isolated power outages and minor damage to trees. It can also make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Because of the wind and dry conditions, fire danger will be extremely high today. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for most of the day across Southern Colorado. Hold off on using anything flammable outside.
That storm system will lead to cooler weather early next week, along with the chance for some precipitation late Monday into Tuesday. Stay tuned...
Beyond Tuesday, a return to warmer and drier conditions can be expected.
