The start of the work week brings in a series of disturbances... we'll see better, more widespread rain chances across S Colorado, cloudier skies and the possibility of locally heavy rain. The burn scar will need to be closely monitored during the early portions of the week due to an elevated risk for flash flooding. Some storms, especially in the E Plains, could become strong to severe with large hail, strong winds and lightning. Head on over to the "Weather" tab for a full look at the week ahead.
Incident commander Joe Ribeiro confirmed Saturday that homes were destroyed during the flooding in Manitou Springs on Friday. He says others sustained significant damage.
There is no word yet on how many homes and business are affected. Crews are still doing damage assessment and say they hope to have more information at another news conference this afternoon or evening. The time of that conference has not been announced.
Volunteers are showing up en mass to help with the cleanup downtown.
