Increasing clouds and falling temperatures can be expected this afternoon, as a storm system approaches from the west. Rain and snow showers will develop along and west of I-25 by mid-afternoon, gradually spreading to the south and southeast this evening and overnight. Incident commander Joe Ribeiro confirmed Saturday that homes were destroyed during the flooding in Manitou Springs on Friday. He says others sustained significant damage.
There is no word yet on how many homes and business are affected. Crews are still doing damage assessment and say they hope to have more information at another news conference this afternoon or evening. The time of that conference has not been announced.
Volunteers are showing up en mass to help with the cleanup downtown.
