While heavy rain is no longer occurring on the burn scar, additional runoff is occurring. This could lead to debris on roads and swollen creeks and streams in the area.
At this time, there are no reports of life threatening flash flooding. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Here are some basic tips for flash flood safety:
-Turn around, don’t drown
-Don’t drive around barricades
-2 feet of water can float a car
-Stay away from electrical wires
-6” of water can sweep a person away
-Don’t play in flood waters.
Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe is particularly concerned about heavy rains washing down through the Waldo Canyon burn scar.
