For the second consecutive night, powerful storms shook parts of Colorado. The power of Thursday’s storms was enhanced by tornadic activity in Elbert and El Paso Counties.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports receiving information about a home damaged by a tornado near the intersection of Soapweed Road and Big Springs Road in Ellicott.
The National Weather Service from Boulder also reports seven or eight homes were damaged 15 miles southeast of Kiowa in Elbert County when two twisters touched down. One home on County Road 82 was destroyed. In all of that, only one person suffered a minor injury.
The weather also downed power lines near Calhan Road, north of the town of the same name, and into Elbert County. The Elizabeth Fire Department says that has caused three grass fires.
Flooding was also reported at the intersection of Highway 94 and Calhan Highway.
Additionally, dozens of viewers have called or e-mailed to report broken windows on vehicles and homes.
