While most of Friday is looking dry east of the mountains, a strong cold front will move through Southern Colorado on Friday night. This could touch off a few showers and storms, but we feel the best chance for rain will be in the mountains and near Denver. That changes on Saturday. Lots of moisture (potential fuel) for showers and storms to tap will be here on Saturday and Sunday. Any shower or storm that develops will be slow moving, with the potential for heavy rain. It will also be much cooler. High temperatures will not make it out of the 70s and 80s for the weekend, with even cooler temperatures expected in the mountains. While we are not worried about widespread flash flooding, due to how dry it has been, we are concerned that heavy rain on the Waldo Canyon burn area could lead to flash flooding for those that live on or next to the scar. It is imperative that if you live in that area, you stay aware of the weather. We will be on Breaking Weather Alert all weekend, warning folks about the heavy rain and flooding potential.
