The powerful storm that blew through Colorado Springs on Sunday night had bigger plans for the town of Limon.
Residents there got pounded by golf ball to tennis ball-sized hail for twenty to thirty minutes!
On Monday morning, the town was feeling the effects. Residents everywhere were cleaning up huge hailstones, raking up leaves and branches, and assessing damage to windows, windshields and fences.
Limon resident Jim Hartwig says it was unlike any storm he’s ever seen, “I remember looking out the window and seeing the sky black and going, ‘wow, there’s a big storm coming,’ it was terrible, the wind was so strong the walls were shaking, I thought the house was going to blow away.
Kirk Pottorff says he’s lived his entire life in eastern Colorado and says this was the most powerful hail storm he has ever witnessed. He says had there been tornado sirens, “you couldn't even hear because the hail was so loud.”
