The biggest concern for this evening will be frigid temperatures. Temperatures will fall through the teens and single digits tonight and with breezy conditions... wind chills will be in the single digits to below zero. The frigid weather gripping much of the country is blamed for at least six deaths, four of them in Tennessee.
Snow is piled so high in Iowa that drivers can't see across intersections and North Dakota is bracing for heavy snow and wind chills as low as 50 below zero today.
The rest of the iceberg has the South in its grip as a rare cold snap is expected to bring snow and ice from South Carolina to Louisiana. Forecasters say wind chills could drop to near zero at night in some areas.
Another 10 inches of snow was expected in Iowa, buried in December by more than 2 feet of snow, while up to 9 inches could fall in southeast North Dakota. Forecasters warn of hazardous zero-visibility driving conditions.
