my wife and i are both retired. i've lived here for 30 plus years and love it here. especially when it snows. we have our hot choclate and rolls and stay warm. we watch tv and listen to the reports about all the IDIOTS that don't know how to drive n bad weather. you would think that these people would know bEtter but i reckon not. and more importantly people don't know where the lite switch is. it really helps to see the other vehicles around you. o well,,,i hope everyone has a nice day,,,,,,,,,ummmmmmmmmm,,i think i'll go have a nap now. GOOD DAY TO YA

WOW: Yes i am well aware that the normal flu has taken the lives of many, but the swine flu is moving rapidly and taking lives more quickly. and with both flu's most victims had underlying health problems, but why chance your child going to school and possibly contracting "any" flu when you don't have to! When im sick i don't go to work! i take into consideration everyone else who would have to be around my sniffling, sneezing and couching all day, and in the end their health isn't worth contaminating! share your toys, not your germs! i can see from another perspective of yes, put all the sick ones together with the healthy so they can all get it and get over it, but a child's immune system isn't that strong and there is no need to risk it...swine flu or seasonal flu! all who are sick i hope you get to feeling better, and for those who aren't hope you keep healthy and don't catch whats going around!

With common sense and taking enough time to get places; commuting shouldn't be an issue. Just play it safe. If you don't have to go out then don't! This is the time of year when the flu is going around, and yes people do die from the reg. flu and you shouldn't send your children to school if they are sick, but with the new flu out there it is better to be safe than sorry. If your child is healthy and hasn't been sick then keep them home if the sick kiddos are attending...no need to come in contact with this stuff if you don't have to! no need to bash people who think that its wise to send their healthy kids to school with the ill ones! "procreate" all you want! Native do you have children? are you itching to get them off your hands and back in school so you can shirk your parental responsibilities? really hope not! take precaution and prevent the worst! hope everyone enjoys this normal winter weather! it is CO after all!

I'm not a native of Colorado, but I was raised in the midwest where snow and bad weather is no stranger. I learned how to drive in this weather, but just because I know how to drive in it and I have an AWD vehicle does not mean I can go 80 mph down the road, especially with ice under the snow. Honestly, this is really nothing compared to some of the winters that Germany gets. I can remember having to put cardboard on my windshield so I didn't have to wait two hours in the morning to thaw out 4 inches of ice on my windshield and driving with two of my wheels off of the road just to keep traction because the road was covered with 6 to 8 inches of snow. This is an itty bitty storm. Enjoy it. And Colorado does have more than two seasons, this is beautiful scenery here, which is why I choose to stay here. If you don't like the weather, then leave. Leaves more scenery and more room for the rest of us.

Wow. I'm by far not a Colorado Native. I moved here a year ago, during a supposedly mild winter. You people sound so moronic. To Native: The regular flu has killed more annually than the swine flu. So I guess every parent who lets their kid get the flu is a horrible parent right. I mean it only kills 30,000 annually. To Supercharged: Those 440 horses, are going to make you lose control easier than a non 4WD. You're brakes also don't work any better than a 2WD vehicle. Also, the caps lock button is to your left above Shift and below Tab. All caps doesn't make you special. If I go out today, I will drive carefully. I will drive a reasonable speed. I also know that just because it isn't icy say on S. Academy doesn't mean its not icy on Briargate. Common sense people...really.

People die from the normal influenza everyday as well...and about the weather...I drove into a curb today but i work at best buy and there are so many people here!!! The weather must not be all the bad!

Yes, Colorado does have 4 seasons. Winter, Spring, Fall, and Winter. But they come in no particular order, and usually more than season one each day :-) Welcome to Colorado, Snow Happens...10 months of the year. [July and August it's usually ok to put your scraper away]

OK fine SUPERCHARGED...have at. But I wonder...will you pay for that tree you slid into? By the amount of intelligence you're showing, I would have thought you'd buy a Ford. Kidding, you Ford owners (well, kinda). It doesn't matter how much snow a "stom" drops (sheesh, get spellcheck), ice underneath means you'll be sliding. But then, I suppose you're one who thinks speed limits are for the weak. Drive careful, people!

your meterologists couldn't predict the weather if thier life depended on it.

Now as for sending your children to school! if you think that the conditions are fine then thats your judgement, but what is wrong with enjoying this weather...calling off work and spending the day with your family outside??? comparing the snow to the H1N1 or Swine Flu is a bit much. Why would you want to chance your childs health and send them to school where they could catch that?? its not like the chicken pox or regular flu!!! people have died from it! honestly what kind of parent would want to risk their childs health like that??? Some people need to take an IQ test before they are allowed to procreate! what is the matter with you?

I too am a Native of CO. Been here my entire life. I think that if you are going to call yourself a Native then suck it up just a bit please. Natives know how the weather is going to be. Gee I don't think I remember when it was this cold....Oh yeah! it was last Oct. Nov. Dec. & Jan.! We know that the weather-man can only predict so much...pretty much that its going to be cooler tomorrow than it is today...or warmer! You want cold come stay with me for a few days in the winter. All of you in the Mountains don't know cold til you have spent winter down here in the Valley! The most you have is a WET cold. Here we have a To-the-Bone-COLD! The busses here run year round. the only way school is cancelled is if there is no way the busses can get out and get moving w/o getting stuck or high-centereing! This weather...I love it! I wish we could get more snow and moisture! 4x4's and SUV's mean nothing when the conditions are bad...drive safe and use common sense please! stop whining and enjoy it!

Hey now, Colorado has all 4 seasons...all year 'round. Where else can you have a 60 degree day and snow in the same week in December? And BTW...I have a 4x4 truck, but I know that even though I have better traction as far as going, it has no more braking than any other car out there...

Iwas raised in WI and grew up driving on snow and ice that didn't melt. I love CO, but I'm getting older and thinking of retiring to Costa Rica or someplace else where my social security won't get taxed, cost of living is lower and it never snows. Between WI & CO I've had enough of cold and snow. The drive in on Woodman Rd. to my office is WAY better this year than last though so happy about that. By the way-you "natives" that make disparaging comments about transplants should pick up a history book and get your nose out of the air.

Chris, you're right about the kids going to school; make 'em get out there and walk in the snow, it'll give them a hardship story to bore THEIR kids with! As for "everybody who doesn't have a 4x4 should stay home." I would also add that people with 4x4's who are out in the snow should not drive like they're invincible; Don't know how it is in CO, but here in the DC area you'll see traffic moving carefully and at an appropriate speed in bad weather and then some moron in his Ford Testosterone or whatever comes blowing by at 90mph.
