A powerful storm complete with heavy snow, hurricane force winds, and cold temperatures has paralyzed the western Dakotas. Deadwood, South Dakota has reported 45 inches of snow, with winds over 70 mph! Rapid City had a wind gust of 105 mph, and the South Dakota Plains had zero visibility for most of Thursday. Power outages look like they will last for days, as the strong wind snapped power poles. This storm shut down I-90 in western South Dakota and I-80 in western Nebraska and southeast Wyoming. While this storm isn't unusual for this time of year, it was certainly a shock to those who had to endure it. Just two days prior to the storm, high temperatures were in the 70's! Gotta love the change of the seasons...
