Gov. Bill Ritter says President Bush has approved Colorado's request for federal disaster aid to help with the costs of the storms and tornadoes that struck Weld and Larimer counties last week.
Ritter says Bush's rapid response will help state and local agencies to expedite recovery efforts already underway.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the president's action will make federal funds available to people affected by the storms.
Tornadoes that tore through Windsor and other areas in northern Colorado Thursday killed one person and destroyed or damaged hundreds of homes.
