Fire Danger on the Rise

The combination of above normal temperatures, gusty winds, and dry conditions will make for explosive wildfire potential over the next several days. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of the area today, meaning the risk for wildfires is high. While temperatures will be a little cooler tomorrow and Friday, strong winds and low relative humidities will lead to high fire danger once again. It would be wise to postpone any outdoor activities with flammable items for the remainder of the work.

Please note it is very possible these conditions will extend into the upcoming Holiday Weekend. If you're planning on having a campfire or a cookout this weekend, it is imperative you exercise EXTREME CAUTION.

amid the recent fires i read that the stage I fire ban was lifted. I am close to all the fires that have been in eastern el paso county and i can tell you that there has not been a bit of rain in our area and that a fire ban would benefit not only my self but alot of home owners and fire fighters. I was driving home right by the fire on coyote lane and get home and my neighbors have a fire pit going! I am not very confortable, they are not doing anything wrong but it is very very dry out hear! It is so dry that there is not one green blade of grass in my pasture and my horses can eat what little green grass that there is by the house in a few minutes! But I am saving a ton of money not having to put gas in my lawn mower.
