It was a gorgeous day on Sunday, for the most part. The sun was shining, the air was nice and warm and the wind was howling like mad.
For most of the day on Sunday, hats were flying off heads, dirt was pelting people in the face and garbage was getting tossed up into the wind.
Sounds rough, but that didn't stop most Colorado Springs residents from going outside and enjoying themselves.
The wind began to pick up during the early afternoon hours. Colorado Springs resident David Town decided to throw some hoops at a park near his home and he said at times his basketball seemed to have a mind of its own. "The ball just takes off like a golf ball, flying through the air", said Town.
Local fire fighters also had to deal with their fair share of grass fire outbreaks. They say Sunday was a good opportunity for them to warn people and remind them to be fire conscious. Colorado Springs worked on two grass fires that scorched about two acres. One of those fires came dangerously close to one home.
